. 2025-10-09
On September 22 and 23, the Portuguese Development Bank (BPF) conducted an institutional visit to BNDES – Brazilian Development Bank, Brazil’s promotional bank and one of the largest development banks in the world.

This moment represented a significant step in reinforcing strategic relations between the two institutions, with the formal on-site signing of the first Memorandum of Understanding.

This agreement results from joint work carried out over recent months and marks the beginning of a BPF-BNDES collaboration aimed at creating tools to support the internationalization of companies, benefiting both the Portuguese and Brazilian economies.

Opportunities for Collaboration Identified

During the visit, several meetings were held with various business areas of BNDES, discussing possible collaboration opportunities and potential BPF business initiatives, namely:

Import-Export Finance
  • Co-investment in Brazil for companies of Portuguese interest or connected to Portugal;
  • Given its mandate, BNDES may play a role in supporting the internationalization of Portuguese companies;
  • New opportunities for relevant applications for BPF, particularly regarding the structuring of public and private financing, as well as other business areas that BPF may explore.
