BPF at the Africa Private Capital Mobilisation Day

The Portuguese Development Bank (Banco Português de Fomento) took part in the Africa Private Capital Mobilisation Day, represented by Luís Guimarães, Chief Commercial Officer, and Mónica Machado Moreira, Head of Development Finance. The event took place on 17 December 2025 at Lancaster House, London, and was co-organised by the African Development Bank and the UK Government.

The initiative reinforced the shared commitment to mobilising private capital for sustainable development in Africa, in line with the record replenishment of the African Development Fund (ADF-17) and with the UK’s new approach of moving "from donor to investor”.

BPF reiterated its willingness to deepen cooperation with the AfDB, private investors and UK authorities, within its mandate as the national promotional institution and in anticipation of its transition to a fully-fledged Development Finance Institution (DFI). Key priorities include the mobilisation of guarantees and co-investment instruments for strategic projects, with a particular focus on Lusophone countries and on the infrastructure and climate transition sectors.
